The harmony of dissonance – The trace of traditional singing’s

Concert The harmony of dissonance was born as a result of artistic research and new study programs and programs at the Music Academy. Unlike the concert repertoire that the ensembles of the Musical Academy represented during the cycle of Lisinski Sabbath, Harmony of Dissonance is a program step forward in the neglected and unexplored sphere of Croatian traditional singing. miCROfest 2017 program

miCROfest is an international festival of microtonal music aiming to create an opportunity for the public to encounter microtonal music, microtonal instruments and theories of microtonal music. This year, as one of the few events across Europe, miCROfest is part of the EUROMicroFest. Festival mission is to present program ranging from lectures held by ethno/musicologists that present traditional music systems up to lectures & workshops held by worldwide microtonal experts that offer insights about contemporary microtonal instruments and theory; highlight of the program are concerts presenting both traditional and contemporary microtonal art and interpretation. This year’s program starts on 27 October with two blocks of concerts including various tuning systems with genera from traditional, contemporary classical, jazz to free improvised music. Not only it’s a rare opportunity for the public to hear live performances of traditional and contemporary microtonal music, we are inviting interested musicians to join the FREE JAM SESSION with our guests from Poland, at the end of the evening. Second day of the festival is dedicated to the lectures, open discussion & exhibition. Leading worldwide microtonal music experts will hold lectures for all interested composers, musicians, instrument builders and enthusiastic amateurs.  We are inviting interested public to seize the opportunity to hear more about possibilities of writing and performing music in different tuning systems for instruments like harp, guitar, voice and to maybe even get the answer to the question: Why Microtonal Music? miCROfest 2017 is organized by CAMA – Croatian Association for Microtonal Art, with support from the Republic Croatia Ministry of Culture, Zagreb – City council for culture, Croatian Composers Society, Austrian Culture Forum and in partnership with Culture of Change – SC. Hybrid Harp Tuning @ MIKROTÖNE ~ SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL symposium

International symposium MIKROTÖNE ~ MICROTONES SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL is a biennial event of the International Ekmelic Music Society organized in co-operation with the Mozarteum University Salzburg and in partnership with ConTempOhr and with EUROMicroFest 2017. Symposium included Paper Presentations, Workshops, and Concerts focusing on Microtonal Music. Zoran Scekic has held a lecture “Hybrid harp tuning” where he explores the melodic, harmonic and en-harmonic possibilities of the harp tuned in Just intonation. This kind of tuning produces 21 different pitch per octave and structure of the intervals differ from equal temperament to Just intonation. Sum or difference between equal temperament and Just intonation intervals results in large number of hybrid intervals that are becoming available on harp tuned in the manner....

Zoran Scekic @ XIII Moscow International Slavic Musical Festival

Famous Moscow International Slavic Musical Festival was organized for the 13 year by the famous School of Arts named after M.A. Balakirev, between 18 and 21 of May 2017. Festival program included contest of young musicians, concerts, exhibitions, cultural programs for participants and guests, meetings in the cultural centers of Slavic countries, round table meetings for the exchange of teaching experience, master classes with the participation of prominent artists and distinguished guests of the Festival.   Zoran Scekic, as a representative artist from Croatia, was a member of the jury for some of the contests and was holding a master class about microtonal music.  ...
